Eternal Life! 

Eternal life is more precious than gold. Some of its by-products are internal peace, freedom from guilt, a certain future, everlasting goodness, joy beyond description, and the power to overcome evil. Does it sound expensive? It is!  It cost someone EVERYTHING to make it free to you.

War

 There's a big war going on in a realm you cannot see. It's all about you.  It's about values. It's about life and death. It's about good and evil. It's about choices and consequences.  It's about eternal life and eternal death.

The Main Characters!

God
 God is the main character. He created everything and owns everything and is the source of all life. God is utterly good and unable to do that which is contrary to His nature. He wants all people to know what is good and what is true. God has ALL power and owns absolutely everything.  For a time and for His own good purposes He has allowed evil to have limited rule over the earth as a consequence of choices opposing His own good will.  He is gracious gracious and patient. God is totally intolerant of sin. God is completely just. Click here for more about God.

  Enemy
 Satan, (also known as Lucifer), is an angel created by God who has rebelled against God. For a time God has allowed Satan to have limited freedom, which will end in eternal banishment in a place God made for him and his followers which is called "the lake of fire". Satan ("enemy") wants to destroy man by deceiving him. That means that Satan wants people to believe lies so that they remain under God's eternal judgment also.

You!!

 It's not all about you, except from your perspective. As far as you are concerned it is ALL about you.  God wants you to live forever. Your Enemy wants you choose eternal separation and evil.  You have been given the incredible power to choose your destiny.  If you will honestly examine your habitual choices, actions and attitudes you will see that your natural habitual tendency is to choose the destructive, the independent, the lustful, the selfish and the evil. Inaction is the key to remaining there. To lose everything of eternal goodness all you need to do is: nothing! However, a way has been made for you to escape out of the trap and become heir to all that is good. That's what this writing is all about.

Information!

Revelation
 God has sent prophets throughout history to proclaim His will and make His truth known. He has sent His own Son. And He made a book available about His work in the past, designs for the future, and instructions for living. It is called "the Bible". But He wants each person to respond of his or her own free will to the truths heard or written in the Bible.

Faith
 Believing what God has written is called "faith". This faith is based on historical fact and future certainties. Historical, archeological, and scientific discoveries continually confirm the reliability of God's written message to man, but for each individual it ultimately boils down to whether or not he or she will believe it. Evidence proves nothing to one who will not believe it. So the issue is will, not fact. Biblical faith is not blind but may require a choice to believe when not all of the pieces are readily or physically seen.  

Law
 God made the rules. He knows what is best for us all, but He will not force us to do what is best. The evil that we see in this world is a result of not following God's desires. Each created being who violates those rules will be held accountable to His perfectly just judgment.

Here are some of God's rules from Exodus 20:1-26: "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." (object of worship) "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image…" (idols) "Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them …" "Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain." (Irreverence) "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy." … "Honour thy father and thy mother: …." (Disrespect of authority) "Thou shalt not kill (murder)." "Thou shalt not commit adultery." (Immorality) "Thou shalt not steal." (Theft) "Thou shalt not (lie) bear false witness against thy neighbour." "Thou shalt not covet…" (Greed) 

Violation!

Violation & Condemnation 
If any person were to violate even one of these laws one time, he or she would be condemned. 

 "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." (The Holy Bible, James 2:10)

Judgment
 No person will escape standing before God's judgment seat.  For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.(Luke 12:2)  "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:" (Hebrews 9:27)

Pay Back!

Payment
 Do the crime, pay the time. The payment due for violation of any of God's rules is eternal death. God's character demands perfection and His own glory is that standard by which we are measured. 

Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death;"

What is Death? The Bible reveals three kinds of death:

Death is not annihilation or cessation of existence. Death is separation; particularly: separation from life.

The Bible refers to three different aspects of death. These are physical, spiritual, and eternal or "the second death".

Physical death 
- Judges 8:32 "And Gideon the son of Joash died in a good old age, and was buried in the sepulchre of Joash his father, in Ophrah of the Abiezrites." 

Physical death is that separation of the soul and spirit from the body. The departure of life from the physical body. A person dying a natural death looks hardly any different one minute after death from one minute before death. What has occurred in the moment of death? There has been a separation of life from the body. There was something (someone) there and then there was not. Life has departed from the body and from those of us who are still physically living. Such is physical death.

Spiritual death 
- Colossians 2:13 "And you, being dead in your sins …" (How can someone reading this - physically alive - be dead?)

Spiritual death is the separation of man's spirit from God's Spirit as illustrated in the historical account of Adam and Eve in Genesis chapter 3 of the Bible. 

Gen 2: 17 "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."

Adam and Eve walked about freely with God and enjoyed His presence until they disobeyed Him. Immediately after they ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil they were separated from God. They not only did not enjoy His presence, they hid from Him. You and I have never known spiritual life as Adam and Eve knew it, for you and I were born separated from God. We never walked with God in the garden of Eden in the cool of the evening. We were born outside of the garden. You might say we were inside Adam when he sinned, thus we are also separated from spiritual life. But God has made a way for spiritual rebirth; to give us this spiritual life while here on earth!

Eternal death 
- 2Thess 1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

The "second death" is in Revelation 20:14 and 21:8. It is written in Revelation 21:8 "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

After the Great White Throne judgment, where every person will be judged by his knowledge of good and evil according to his deeds, the condemned will be thrown into the lake of fire where they will be separated from God for eternity. They will have no contact with good. They will be in torment forever.

As it is written in 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9, "when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;"

Blood?!? 
God's righteousness and justice demands that every violation be remedied by a life or blood payment. This shows God's severe attitude toward violation of His law. So every person who has sinned owes God the blood of his life. (It's not the end of the story, so read on!) 

Leviticus 17:11 "For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement (covering) for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul." 
Hebrews 9:22 "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission (forgiveness)."

Provision!

Substitution?
 God made provision for each person whereby his or her sin might be covered so that God could fellowship with man. For Adam and Eve God killed an animal, shedding its blood in substitution for their violations, and clothed them with the skin. And He gave them the promise of a Redeemer, a person, who would come and pay the sacrifices due in totality. The story of Cain and Abel indicates that the animal sacrifice as a covering for sin was an ongoing thing. The law given to Moses prescribed that the only way men could have fellowship with God was through blood sacrifices of bulls, goats, and lambs. Throughout the Old Testament of the Bible promises were given concerning the Redeemer who would come and pay the penalty for our violations once and forever, His blood putting an end to the blood sacrifices.

A Saviour!
 Today we know that Jesus Christ was that promised Redeemer. He is God in human flesh. He came to earth to live a perfect, sinless life among us. Having no sin of His own, He was not under the death sentence like us. His ultimate purpose was to make the supreme sacrifice of love; to yield His life as the payment to satisfy God's just anger against our violations. He made that payment on the Cross, dying to pay our sin debt. He died to set us free from the penalty of sin. That is good news! 

1 Peter 3:18 "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened (made alive) by the Spirit:"

Alive!
 If Jesus had merely died we would have a religion no greater than any other on earth. The difference is that Jesus rose again from the dead and lives today. He walked on the earth for forty days after His resurrection from the dead teaching His disciples. He rose again and lives today proving His claims of deity, his power over sin and death, and the promise of life after physical death. This is the great and certain hope of a true Christian. 

1 Peter 1:3 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,"

Decision!

Believe it!
 Imagine God sending His own Son, Jesus, to pay for our violations! He paid the penalty in full for every person who believes it! Imagine his ongoing wrath against those who refuse to believe and trust in this great sacrifice!

Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." 
John 3:18 "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." 
Acts 10:43 "To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. John 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness."

Eternal Life!
 John 17:3 "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."

Eternal life begins the moment one trusts in Jesus Christ as God's permanent solution for sin. From that moment on begins the journey of becoming acquainted with God. Never again will you be separated from His life. Though this physical life be filled with troubles, yet from that moment through all of eternity you will never be separated from the goodness of God. Those who will not believe will be separated from all that is good for all of eternity. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

The Good News is that Jesus paid the price in full. What you need to do is trust in what He has done for you. Won't you do that today?

Matthew 7:13 "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."

Revelation 20:11 "¶ And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." 21:1 "¶ And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

About God

God is the Creator. Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." 

God is Owner of all. Ex 19.5b "… all the earth is mine"  Job 41.11 - "whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine" 

God is good. Ps 34:8 "O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him."

God can be known by man. 

God made the rules. 2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"

God keeps records. Revelation 20:15 "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." 

God is Just. Proverbs 24:12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?

God will Judge Matthew 12:36 "But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment."

God Hates Sin. Revelation 21:27 "And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life."

God's Standard is Perfection: Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" 
(The glory of God is the standard by which we are measured, not the goodness of a neighbor compared to me.)

Man is sinful. Romans 3:10 "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:"
