The Prophets The Stranger The Lamb |
May 2, 2002 Dear Friends,
Thank you for praying for us as we transition to a new way of ministering! I have mentioned Diana in other letters but have not elaborated. Here’s an attempt to fill in some gaps! J Who is Diana? Diana is from Massachusetts. Her father served in the US Army (ordnance disposal!) so she has lived on many military bases around the USA. She loves our Lord greatly and for nine years was a missionary on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ in California then Orlando, Florida. There she served as a computer programmer and computer trainer (teaching people to use computers and software). These past seven years Diana has been working as a computer trainer for Mercedes-Benz USA at the headquarters in Montvale, New Jersey. How did you meet? A friend of Diana’s who had been actively praying for her found information about me on the Internet and introduced us by email on October 9. Diana and I corresponded by email for several weeks before switching to telephone calls. She invited me to join her family Thanksgiving celebration. We had a wonderful time together and managed to throw in a visit to the Empire State Building, Mystic Seaport, a museum, and a walk in Central Park. She met my family at Christmas time when we had our family reunion in Missouri. They loved her immediately! Plans! Diana is a source of great joy. I believe she is the woman for whom God has been preparing me. She interacts well with people everywhere. She is compassionate, gracious, hospitable, kind and talented. She is very thoughtful and considerate of others, constantly serving and building. She has a heart to know God and to make Him known. She encourages me greatly! On Saturday, December 29 we went out to a restaurant in Springfield, MO. After eating, I sat next to Diana to tell her some of the many wonderful reasons that I love her. Then I got down on one knee and asked Diana to marry me. Happily for me she thought that was a good idea and responded with a positive “yes!” Where will you be married? - Simsbury, Connecticut August 3, 2002. Will you be going back overseas? Yes! We both have a heart to serve the Lord in ministry and are doing all that we are able to return to missionary work as soon as possible. We are tentatively assigned to Indonesia after the wedding and completion of NTM training. The NTM training facilities are full for the January 2003 class. We plan to move to NTM’s international Aviation offices in Arizona in January and serve there until August. This will be a good time for me to renew my mechanical skills for maintaining the airplanes in Indonesia. We plan to enter New Tribes Mission training in August 2003. Typically that training is a year in length. We would go overseas soon thereafter. Please pray with us as we look to God for guidance, provision, and timing in events related to our marriage and service as missionaries. Thank you for praying!
